Disability Support Worker

Edmen are currently seeking Disability Support Workers for employment across the North-West region of Sydney. You will work across a range of services including group home, in-home and respite settings, providing support to both adults and young people living with a disability.

– Provide support to individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities in a group home, in-home and respite setting
– Assist with activities of daily living, community support and empowerment
– Services range from low to high needs with a range of challenging behaviours (low – extreme depending on the site). Work with complex care needs

What you’ll need to succeed

Minimum 6 months paid experience as a Disability Support Worker
Hold a current Australian Drivers Licence and have your own car
Experience with personal care and manual handing essential
Willing to do shift work including emergency/on call work
Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain one
Hold a current Working with Children Check

Candidates who are skilled in managing challenging behaviours and familiar with behaviour support plans will be highly regarded. Those with proven exposure to autism are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant must be willing to undertake a National Police Check at the final stages of the recruitment process at a cost of $43.

Disability Support Worker

Austra Health is currently seeking experienced Disability Support Worker’s to work with clients across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Work for an in home and residential disability support provider in Melbourne and across Victoria. As a support worker you will provide a range of personal care and home help services. These tasks can include domestic assistance, facilitating meal times, client movement and transport, personal hygiene assistance, communication support, administration of medication, assistance with recreational activities, high-needs personal care, rehabilitation, independent living skills, and assistance with the development of individual care plans.

The participants that this in home and residential disability provider works with have complex medical needs and generally present with multiple disabilities, ABI and spinal injuries being the most common. Full training is provided to employees who work on the program. The vacancies are permanent PT no guaranteed hours due to the nature of the client’s needs.

The client requires support workers across a variety of shifts over 7 days per week.

Selection Criteria:

– Cert III in Aged Care / Home and Community Care or Certificate III is Individual Support or Disability with 12 months experience in a disability support role

– Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)

– Current Police Clearance Certificate (or willing to apply)

– Current Working with Children’s Check (or willing to apply)

– Residency or permission to work in Australia

– First aid and CPR training

– Your own vehicle with comprehensive insurance
